Maharashtra is all set to get its first Government Music Academy. The Government Music Academy will share its name with Dinanath Mangeshkar, the father of Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosale.
Higher Education and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant made this announcement on Lata Mangeshkar’s 91st birthday. The announcement clarified that Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Tourism Minister Aaditya Thackeray will look after the setup. He said that this was the Maha Vikas Aghadi’s gift to Lata Mangeshkar and her family. Many consider Mumbai to be the finance capital of India and also the entertainment capital. Mumbai has some acting colleges, but this is the first Government college, therefore education here will be at subsidized rates, making it one of the best opportunities for budding singers to hone their talent.
