And the movie that had Abhay go on his full quirk was Ek Chaali ki Last Local.  Critics say Ek Chaalis ki Last Local is one of the most underrated movies in Bollywood. The movie is a one-night story, and has everything that you won’t expect in a Bollywood movie – including a homosexual criminal don. This was one of the most stylishly shot movies in Bollywood.

And then we have DevD, the movie that made Abhay Deol a household name among the auters and lovers of films. DevD was the new version of the Saratchandra Chatterjee classic Devdas. Abhay Deol played a character that was completely different from anything that the audience had seen. The movie worked with the audience as well as the critics and heralded a whole new genre in Bollywood.

  • Manorama Six Feet Under

Critics and fans will tell you that this movie is one of  the most underrated thrillers in Bollywood.  Abhay Deol plays a failed journalist who is embroiled in a controversy that can cause the collapse of the state Government. Deol does an excellent job of playing his rustic, neo-modern character. One of the earlier roles of Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

  • Zindagi Na Mile Dobara

Zindagi Na Mile Dobara is a landmark Bollywood movie for several reasons. It is one of the first mature movie about boys.  It  does a realistic and unhyped portrayal of men trying to be the best version of themselves.  Abhay Deol plays one third of the leading men, and gives a fantastic portrayal of a character who shares screen space with characters portrayed by Hrithik Roshan and Farhan Akthar.
