Today, while most of the trapments of Old Bollywood have withered away, the Bollywood dance and song is still worth big bucks. In the nineties, when stars went all out to launch their kids, we routinely read stories about how the kids went to foreign lands to learn dancing, one of them even went to America to learn tap dancing, an unheard-of dance form for the common Indian back in the day. Now, fans want to know who is the best dancer in the Indian film industry and who is the best dancer in India now.

Shiamak Davar

The nineties were the decade of Shiamak Davar. With movies becoming more modern and stories becoming stronger, Bollywood needed strong blood in the choreography department. That brought us dancers like the late Saroj Khan and Shiamak Davar. Shiamak was the choreographer of some of the most iconic dance sequences in the nineties and was a Yash Chopra favorite. With his choreography, movies like Dil to Pagal Hain couldn’t be made.

Jeetendra wasn’t famous as Jumping Jack for nothing. He was one of the first actors who could match steps with his female counterparts in the well-choreographed songs in his movies. Before him, only actors like Biswajeet and Shammi Kapoor could do what he did.  In fact, in pop culture, Jeetendra’s white shoes are iconic symbols.
