OTT platform Zee5 announced its next project ‘State of Siege: Akshardham’. The film will be based on the terror attack on the temple of Akshardham in the city of Gandhinagar, Gujarat. After the ‘State of Siege: 26/11’, the Akshardham project continues the ‘Siege’ series to honour Indian soldiers.
Zee5 announced the news on Zee5 Premium social media handle. Zee% wrote, “A tribute to the lives lost in Akshardham this day and the bravery of the NSG who fought and ended the siege. #StateOfSiege: #Akshardham #ComingSoon #SahasKiVijay #SOSAkshardham.
The terror attack took place 18 years ago, on 24th September 2002. 80 people injured and over 30 people lost their lives in this attack. Sundeep Sen, the second in command at the NSG during the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, is going to act as a consultant for this film. Sundeep Sen has also been a consultant on the State of Siege: 26/11. Directed by Ken Ghosh, the cast for the State of Siege: Akshardham is yet to be announced.
Director Ken Ghosh said, “Everyone knows about the Akshardham attacks, but not many know what happened behind the scenes and the role that our brave NSG soldiers played. ‘State Of Siege: Akshardham‘ will decode the entire event and present it to the viewers”.
The film will go on floors soon and expected to release in 2021 on Zee5.
