Is dancing an inborn talent? Or can it be learned? Let’s find out!
Most of the dancers and admirers always have a question, “Is dancing an inborn talent? Or can it be learned?” Nature versus Nurture is a common debate for all art forms, including for dancing. In my view, dance is indeed an inborn talent but it can also be achieved if one has a strong desire to do it.
To dance well, one must have natural talents like flexibility, coordination, and a sense of rhythm. The inborn dancers can create beauty through their bodies with their ineffable lightness, other-worldliness in their movements, an intuitive awareness, and grace.
Most of the people say that dancing is an innate gift. But it is quite true that inborn natural talent is not just enough to become a good dancer. One has to do regular practice and update their skills to excel in the dancing field. This shows that even if one has an inborn talent, they must do practice and learn new things to achieve success. So, the one who doesn’t have natural talent can also become a great dancer if they take classes and practice dancing with full enthusiasm and zeal. We can achieve anything through practice. Anyone can become proficient and brilliant dancer through their strong will. Just as anyone who has inborn talent with it couldn’t become a great dancer without the keen determination to excel in it.
The TV shows like ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’ is a great example of inborn talent versus learned skills. In this show, the celebrity contestants must learn steps from their respective choreographers and give performances. Here, we can see some of the celebrities who are non-dancers give their best on the stage because of the good training and practice. This proves that anyone can become a good dancer without natural talent.
Therefore, it is quite evident that to become a successful dancer, you must do thorough practice even if you don’t have an inborn talent. So, it doesn’t matter if dance is in your blood or not. The dance must be in your heart. Therefore, feel the music, understand it, and put the dance floor on fire with your moves.
